Linen Cabinets for Spare Towels in the Bathroom

Bathroom storage problems can be divided into two broad categories: storing towels, and storing other bathroom essentials and accessories. I have singled out towels because of their sheer bulk, and they really do need to be thought about separately. We can leave the bath and shower caddies, medicine cabinet and bathroom vanity to sort out the rest of the bathroom stuff.

Bathroom towels themselves have various subdivisions, but at the top, broad level, you have to allow for towels in current use and then consider separately those freshly laundered towels you want to store in the bathroom ready for future use. There are a variety of heated and unheated towel racks and rails, as well as hooks, which can be used for hanging towels in current use. These can be freestanding or wall mounted, depending on your preferences.

For storing freshly laundered towels, we need to consider bathroom linen cabinets and other cabinets and shelves which could be used for this purpose. As with most household storage furniture, it is best to go for purpose made cabinets; in other words, cabinets and cupboards which are made especially for the bathroom, and for the purpose of storing towels. Such towel cabinets can come in many forms, though, and from an extensive price range; from a white linen cabinet to Espresso or black. This means that you should be able to find something that matches both your budget and existing bathroom furniture and décor.

Bathroom linen cabinets can also be wall mounted or freestanding, and can be just as attractive either way. Do be careful to choose cabinets made with wood or wood composite that is suitable for bathroom use, as they need to be able to withstand the moisture levels and humidity of a bathroom. Hardwoods such as teak and bamboo are particularly good, but you also get some high quality HDF woods that are well up to the test.

If you do not want a purpose made cabinet for your towels, another type of linen storage cabinet will do. For example, an over the toilet storage unit with a cabinet included can be used for storing towels, and even a small bathroom vanity will hold a few towels. You are also at liberty to store your towels on open shelves, although for most people the reserve towels are best kept behind cabinet doors.
